A beautifully crafted vintage side table by Thomasville, featuring classic Chippendale inspired styling, rich mahogany tones, and an especially striking decorative top.
The highlight of this piece is its crotch mahogany central panel, displaying the dramatic, sweeping feathered grain characteristic of crotch cut mahogany. The richly figured center is framed by contrasting wood inlay and mahogany borders, creating a layered, high end look that beautifully showcases the natural character of the wood. A molded edge finishes the top and adds further dimension to the design.
Below, a single drawer offers convenient storage and is accented with a traditional brass bail pull. The table rests on graceful cabriole legs embellished with deeply carved acanthus and scroll detailing at the knees, terminating in substantial ball and claw feet. Fine carved molding beneath the apron provides another subtle decorative detail.
The drawer is branded Thomasville, confirming the maker. The table is an excellent addition to traditional, Colonial Revival, English Country, Georgian, or collected interiors. With its compact proportions and highly decorative craftsmanship, this piece would work beautifully as a side table, end table, occasional table, or bedside table.
The table is in great vintage condition with only minor signs of wear; very minor nicks. A satin polyurethane topcoat has been applied to protect and preserve the original finish.
