This beautiful 19th century Victorian dresser showcases richly grained walnut, intricate geometric plaid design detailing, and an elegant raised gallery top with a contrasting marble insert. Dating to approximately the 1870s–1885, this distinctive antique combines exceptional period craftsmanship with timeless character and functional storage.
Crafted from solid walnut, the dresser features three spacious lower drawers and two smaller elevated glove drawers positioned on either side of the marble surface. Each drawer front is adorned with finely incised horizontal and vertical lines, creating a striking geometric plaid style pattern reminiscent of the Eastlake movement. The richly figured walnut grain adds warmth and depth throughout, while traditional ring pulls and decorative keyhole escutcheons complement its historic appearance.
The drawer construction features hand cut dovetail joinery with visible wooden pins, highlighting traditional 19th century woodworking techniques. The raised gallery top provides a charming architectural silhouette, with a beautiful gray and white marble insert offering a contrasting surface for displaying decorative.
Its relatively compact proportions make it a wonderful choice for a bedroom, entryway, sitting room, hallway, living room or thoughtfully collected interior. With its beautiful walnut grain, distinctive craftsmanship, and elegant Victorian design, this antique chest would make a lovely addition to an English country, traditional, Victorian, or historic inspired home.
