An exquisite antique Chinoiserie storage chest raised on turned legs featuring richly detailed hand-painted lacquer scenes depicting traditional Asian landscapes with pavilions, bridges, trees, and mountains, all framed by an ornate gilt vine and leaf border. The deep black lacquered finish provides striking contrast to the warm gold artwork, giving this piece an elegant and timeless presence. The chest opens from the top to reveal a spacious interior as well as a lower storage drawer complete with original hardware. Circa 1940's.
The chest is in great antique condition with only minor signs of wear; some small chips along the edges - see pics.
