A beautiful matching pair of antique bedside tables created from the two side cabinets of an original antique vanity. Dating to the late 19th Century, these narrow cabinets feature rich bookmatched burl walnut graining, decorative carved floral detailing, paneled cabinet doors, and unique aged metal hardware. The tops are especially striking, with highly figured walnut arranged in a mirrored / bookmatched pattern that showcases the natural movement and variation of the grain.
Each table offers a small upper drawer along with a larger cabinet below for additional storage. Inside the cabinets are removable storage boxes/drawers from the original vanity configuration. The carved floral bands across the upper and lower portions add an ornate element that softens the otherwise clean, narrow silhouettes.
These pieces were originally the two sides of a larger vanity and have been separated and finished as individual tables, giving an antique piece a new, functional life while retaining its original character and decorative details.
The tables are in great antique condition with only minor signs of wear with the tops having just been refinished; lightly discolored area on one of the sides, repaired areas at the connection point of vanity - see pics. A satin polyurethane topcoat has been applied throughout to protect and preserve the finish.
