A striking and unique late 19th century Eastlake chest of drawers featuring beautiful walnut construction, burl walnut accents, intricate incised detailing, and a wonderfully architectural design. Four spacious full width drawers are framed by vertical fluted columns and delicate floral cutwork, while figured burl panels across the drawer fronts add depth and character to the warm walnut finish.
The upper gallery is especially distinctive, with two raised trinket drawers with a skeleton key pull flanking a central marble inset and open gallery space. Decorative brass tone ring pulls, ornamental keyhole surrounds, paneled sides, and a shaped lower apron complete the period design.
Dating to the late Victorian era, this chest displays many of the hallmarks associated with the Eastlake movement, where strong geometric lines and architectural details were paired with restrained carved and incised ornamentation. Circa 1870-1885.
A beautiful statement piece with substantial storage, equally suited for use as a bedroom dresser, entryway chest, or accent piece in a traditional, Victorian, eclectic, English or collected interior.

The chest is in excellent original antique condition with only minor signs or wear; minor scratches/nicks, light surface ring, one of the ring pulls had to be replaced and is slightly different from the others. A satin polyurethane topcoat has been applied to protect and preserve the original finish.
