Above them is one of the most interesting details of the piece: a discreet handleless frieze drawer incorporated into the molded upper section. Its front displays particularly striking bookmatched flame mahogany, allowing the drawer to visually disappear into the architectural molding when closed.

Above the main case sits a raised gallery fitted with two smaller glove or accessory drawers, providing additional storage and giving the chest its distinctive early 19th century profile. The abundance of small drawers would make this especially useful today as a bedroom dresser, entry chest, linen chest, or statement storage piece.

Despite its imperfections, the chest has wonderful character, and the richly figured mahogany and unusual drawer configuration make it a particularly interesting surviving example of early Victorian era / American Empire furniture. It would work beautifully in Traditional, American Empire, Federal-inspired, English Country, Colonial Revival, Ralph Lauren, Grandmillennial, or collected eclectic interiors.

41.5 inches wide
19.5 inches deep
44 inches tall

The chest is in great antique condition with minor signs of wear; an age crack in the main tabletop and another in the the left side have been stabilized and won't worsen, discolored area in the wood on the very top back left corner, minor past repairs - see pics.
